Ellendale N.D.

I took this kid with me yesterday. Seems like I take him everywhere. Good kid.

We went to Ellendale ND yesterday to tour the Applied Digital site and construction of their data-center.

Ellendale has been transformed by the enterprise. If you get the chance, check out the news about it. Plenty already published on various platforms about what's going on there.

I'm writing today about the potential of enterprise in South Dakota. My son, in the picture above, is a graduate of the school of mines in Rapid City. We are all aware of the powerhouse SDSMT is for South Dakota. That school turns out the most pursued graduates in engineering. The reputation, on a national level, of SDSMT is nearly unequaled, and first among peers.

We also have Dakota State in Madison. This little rock-star has emerged as a world class high-tech institution.

We've also SDSU, LATC, that little school in Vermillion, etc.

These institutions demand the best from their students. And, in turn, we get the best graduates from them.

Unfortunately, our best and brightest leave for jobs. Why? Maybe pay, maybe love, maybe family, or maybe because we don't have the infrastructure, the jobs, the added value somewhere else has.

I'd like to stem this flow. I believe creating an enduring environment for business is the first place to start. Let's stop the de-growth. Let's open the doors for enterprise. Let's create a place for our best and brightest to at least look at before Tesla, NASA, Wall Street, etc. come knocking.

Technology doesn't rest. The future is trackless. But, we can participate. Let's work together to unleash our home grown brain power. This Applied Digital is a good place to start.
